Accross the Sandur

Volcanoes under glacier can provoke sudden glacial burst during which water and ice flow accross the plains destroying everything on their path. Such areas are called Sandur.
These pictures were taken while driving accross the sandurs between the Myrdalsjokull and Vatnajokull glaciers and the sea in Southern Iceland, September 2006.
