These pictures have been taken at the Accelerator Test facility in Japan. They show many elements usually found in particle accelerator (the ATF is ring with a circumference of the order of 200m).

Quadrupoles are used to control the size of the beam whereas steering magnets are used to control its position. This magnet will create an horizontal magnetic field and thus change the vertical position of the beam.
