These pictures have been taken at the Accelerator Test facility in Japan. They show many elements usually found in particle accelerator (the ATF is ring with a circumference of the order of 200m).

This cavity is used to boost the particles each time they go around the ring. The energy given by the cavity must compensate the energy lost during the travel around th ring.
